IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television — television delivered over the internet rather than through an antenna, a cable or a satellite dish. Instead of tuning in to a broadcast frequency, your device connects to a server and streams the channel you choose, live or on demand.

How does IPTV work?

  1. You choose a channel or a movie in an app on your TV, phone or computer.
  2. The request goes to the provider's server, which sends the stream to you over the internet — live TV, sports, films and series all work the same way.
  3. Your device plays the stream instantly. You can pause, switch channels and browse a full program guide, just like normal TV — only smarter.

Frequently asked questions

What does IPTV mean?

IPTV means Internet Protocol Television — TV delivered over the internet instead of antenna, cable or satellite. You stream live channels, sports, movies and series through an app on any device.

Do I need a special box for IPTV?

No. Any Smart TV, Amazon Firestick, phone, tablet or computer works. If your TV is older, a Firestick 4K Max is an inexpensive way to make it smart.

Does IPTV work on the NBN?

Yes — IPTV works on any NBN connection. You need roughly 15 Mbit/s for HD and 25 Mbit/s for 4K. A wired Ethernet connection gives the best stability during evening peak hours.

Can I watch live sport on IPTV?

Yes — live sport is one of the biggest reasons Australians choose IPTV. AFL, NRL, cricket, F1, football and international leagues are all included in a KCROMO subscription.
